Seed and Need I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will send down his roots; Hosea 14 v 5 Our faith in Jesus is a miracle seed. What is the primary need of a seed? The seed needs soil, water, air, light, fertiliser or manure. If we have these needs met, we should be contented. The purpose of a seed is not to remain a seed but to grow and flourish and bear fruit. When we are buried like a seed in Jesus ( our sacred soil) from whom we derive strength, vigour, all nutrients we need, we will blossom like the lily of the valley, the rose of Sharon in terms of inner beauty and in terms of strength like a cedar of Lebanon. Our roots will have to work hard underground finding its way to the water course. We need to face hardship with the strength the Lord provides. No one can see it, no one can know it except the Lord. We will experience growth like young shoots. Our meditation on His word is the dew that rests on the branches and prepares it to bear both leaves, buds, flowers and fruits. Our splendour will be like and endure as an olive tree. Our fragrance like the cedar of Lebanon. We will blossom and flourish like the vine and we will bear much grain. Even into our old age we will be like the green pine tree. Our fruitfulness comes from Him. Men will dwell in our shade. Our roots, implying our faith will not stop growing. It will grow downward into Him and spread wide till it reaches the water and draws moisture from it. The Lord tests our strength with mighty winds and storms but does not abandon us in these crises but stays closest to us at these times. There are five types or parts of growth- root growth, shoot growth, branches growth, leaves growth, fruit growth. We need to check if we are growing in all these five dimensions. Like the lotus appears to dry up but resurrects itself, we will be like the lotus in the miry clay of this world. Every day the Lord examines us to see if we are growing, our roots, our shoots, our branches, our leaves and fruits. Some branches He prunes but the tree, the vine itself He spares in His mercy. The weeds, our flaws and weaknesses He removes. The Holy Spirit knows what fertilizer, what encouragement, what spur to growth and fruitfulness we need.
